mrcomicsVSM HOVERBOY COMICS UPDATE

Hey Hoverfans! Here's this weeks sneak from the forthcoming Hoverboy #1, at this stage due for release sometime in February.

When ol' Buckethead returns to comics early next year, it will be in some awesome hands. As ever, editor-in-chief Ty Templeton is focusing a lot of manic enthusiasm and talent. For the lead story, Steve Molar will be handing pencils, with coloring duties falling to Bernie Mireault. As chief Hoverboy archivist, I'll be providing some choice Hoverboy material from every era. Comic covers, film stills, toys, and pulp format stories. Cover art is provided by Jason Edmiston. I picked up the final art from Jason last week, and all I can say is WOW! This is a cover you're going to want to rip off the book and frame, and it stands toe to toe with great Hoverboy artists of the past like Matt Laremo and Steve Spence.

As well, I'm keeping mum on a couple of guest artists who will be contributing art to celebrate Hoverboy's return. I hope you're as excited as I am.

Next Monday, Look for another peek at the awesomeness to come, as well as some news on how you might be able to give Hoverboy for Christmas!!

Til next time.

HOVERBOY COMICS UPDATE.

A HOVERBOY FOR OUR TIMES!

Though we're still several months away from the release of THE RETURN OF HOVERBOY, I want to assure Hover-fans everywhere that the lack of updates to the site over the last several months is only a sign of good things to come. Not only will there be a NEW HOVERBOY COMIC on the stands for the first time in almost 30 years, but I'm working hard at coordinating a slew of other events that will make 2007 the best for Hoverboy fans in a loooooonnnnngg time.

What can you expect? Well, for the loyal Hoverfan the most immediate sign that things are shaking will be the return of regular updates to the website. Every Monday, expect news about all the exciting developments as we get closer to the release of Hoverboy#1; as well as more classic Hoverboy memorabilia from the archives.

But first, bask in the glory of of the image next door. Artist Steve Molnar was instrumental in finalizing the design for the new Hoverboy. Mr.Comic's editor Ty Templeton and I had been batting around ideas for several months, but when Steve came in, he brought it all together and really hit it outta the park. And this won't be Steve's only contribution to the book. To get an idea of the talent he's bringing to bear, check out his website here. Next week we'll have some more talent announcements to make, and some other cool stuff to boot.

Ready or not, it's coming! HOVERBOY 2006!

HOVERBOY COMICS UPDATE.

Work continues on the first issue of THE RETURN OF HOVERBOY. Around the Mr.Comics offices, there's been much discussion. Trying to decide what's the best material to re-introduce Hoverboy to the comic buying public at large is no small task. How about an origin story, sure that makes some sense, eh? Except... WHICH origin story do you use? The wartime super-smart science adventurer slash detective? The 1950's Captain America style super soldier? The 1960's Charlie series crashed UFO-and-dying-alien story? The nonsensical leprechaun origin? Each of the staff has they're favorite; depending on when they grew up and which origin they are used to. For me, the HOVERBOY/METAL GUY ACTION HOUR never even HAD an origin story, so I tend to find all of them interesting in their own bizarre way. The decision we make may well affect the Hoverboy continuity that the new stories will take place in. It's an interesting problem.

Nevertheless, you can find new ads for Hoverboy in REVOLUTION ON THE PLANET OF THE APES#3 and BIG MAX#1, both books I highly recommend. They're APE-tastic!

Also this week, one and a half new additions to THE HOVERBOY LEGACY.

This image of a very bucket-esque helmet was sent to me by a fantastic Hover-fan. The source? Click on the image or HERE to find out.

I've also had someone send me info that a character called "Hoverboy" or "Hover Boy" appeared in an episode of THE DREW CARREY SHOW. If anyone has more on this, especially pictures, PLEASE let me know!
