WEEK OF AUGUST 25
This week in 1940: On this day in 1931: Bob Stark’s first wife, Madge gives birth to their first child, Agnes. Agnes was a funny, lively and bright girl who grew up to be a drunken barfly who died in a Birmingham, Alabama after hours club.
This week in 1963: Bob Stark unveils his answer to The Fantastic Four. He calls them, the Spore Four because they can all drift with the wind like spores do. Later, on advice from pretty much everyone he talks to, Stark changes the name to The Flying Beatles, in a blatant attempt to ride the coattails of the Fab Four.
This week in 1965: On this day in 1968 Bell Comics looks at the first artwork for a planned revival of Hoverboy and cancels the project. It take another year for Bob Stark to recover and deliver HOVERBOY'S FOOD FUN MAGAZINE, which is promptly cancelled after one issue.
