Another great piece of Hoverboy nostalgia with this Christmas ‘43 ad for the U.S. Government’s 6th WAR LOAN drive. “Give the gift of Victory!”, was the rallying cry! Though keen to do their part, as you might expect kids were never very excited to receive WAR BONDS as Christmas presents.

Characters from Superman to Mickey Mouse lent their visages to the war effort, and Hoverboy was no exception. At War Bond rallies across the country it was not uncommon to see Hoverboy putting in a live appearance; giving patriotic speeches, posing for pictures with young fans, and burning effigies of Axis leaders before excited crowds.

On one such occasion, the actor playing Hoverboy and several bystanders were seriously injured when they became too caught up in the defacing of an already burning straw dummy of Heinrich Himmler.
